Chair – Sarah Williams
Sarah is one of the club’s founding members. As chair, she provides leadership and ensures that the club abides by its constitution. She makes decisions on training, coaching, finances and policy in consultation with the committee and club members.
Sarah’s sporting passion is swimming, and she teaches swimming for Worcestershire County Council, as well as running her own club, Milestone Swimming Club. She is ASA qualified and trained in British Triathlon Swim Smooth techniques. Sarah did her first triathlon in 2009, and has raced as part of many relay teams.
Vice-chair – Roger Canavan
Secretary – Lisa Hurley
As Secretary, Lisa handles the club’s administration and organisation, including producing the newsletter, managing the website, and looking after our social media. Lisa is proud to have been involved in securing over £5000 of Sport England funding for the club, as well as various other bursaries and private sponsorship.
Lisa came to triathlon from a running background and has raced all distances from 5k to the marathon. Looking for more variety in training she moved to duathlon and from there it was only natural to jump in the water too! She loves racing, and was proud to represent GB at the 2015 European Age-Group Duathlon Championships in Madrid.
Claire Crozier is acting as temporary secretary during Lisa’s maternity absence.
Social Secretary – Matt Downes
Matt is our Social Secretary and Level 1 Triathlon Coach. He is a keen triathlete who has entered Ironman Vichy 2016. He also likes participating in local races to get a free t-shirt. Matt is enjoying developing his coaching skills, and meeting like-minded people looking for a challenge and an active lifestyle, whilst having a laugh along the way.
Kit Manager – Rob Hurley
Rob designed our club kit, and manages our group orders. Rob also manages the club’s Cycling Time Trial membership. Rob loves running and cycling, has been a good-for-age London Marathoner and is a keen duathlete. He also raced in the GB kit at the 2015 European Duathlon Champs in Spain. His first triathlon was last year’s Upton Tri, where he won age-group and fastest first-timer prizes.
Treasurer – Nadine Croney
Membership Secretary & Head Coach – Dick Watling
Dick is one of the founding members of MTC. Dick has been competing in triathlons since 1998 and prefers long distance events. He has completed fourteen Ironmans and one Double-Ironman. Dick is a Level 2 triathlon coach.
Welfare Officers – Janet Adsett and Scott Hawkins
Committee Member– Vikki Sivertsen
Vikki has contributed hugely to promoting the club in the local press through her previous role as Press Officer. She also order the jade green MTC hoodies.
Her passion lies in leading a healthy active lifestyle and encouraging and motivating others to do so too. She is a natural runner and cyclist, but does have a little trouble with swimming! She prefers to think of herself as a duathlete, not a triathlete, although she does force herself out of her comfort zone to have a ‘tri’ sometimes.
Her greatest achievement to date was at the World Age-Group Duathlon Championships in Spain in 2014 when she proudly represented Great Britain in the 45-49 age-group and picked up a Bronze medal.
Committee Member – Amanda Duncan
Amanda sits on the committee and gives valuable support to other members. She is a runner at heart and is our BTF qualified Run Leader. Often to be found running on the hills with her beloved Bob dog, or shouting encouragement as we do laps of Townsend Way.
The committee meets regularly, so if there is anything you would like us to discuss and action, please get in touch with any one of us, or use the contact form below. The club holds an AGM anually, and various open meetings to which all members are invited to attend.
Committee Member – Steve Keepax
We are lucky to have an excellent team of coaches at Malvern Tri Club. In addition to Matt and Dick, meet the rest of our coaching team:
Bill is a Level 2 Triathlon Coach, a Mountain Bike Instructor, Mountain Leader and loving husband. He has come to triathlon to spend more time with wife Jan and daughter Jess. He has raced at all distances in running and MTB, and continues to push himself in various ultra races and personal challenges, to have fun and experience life.
Stewart is a Level 2 Triathlon Coach whose passion lies in swimming. His impressive background as a competitive swimmer has helped many of our members get the best out of themselves in the pool. Stewart competed in one of the top relay teams at this year’s Upton Triathlon, posting one of the fastest swim times of the day.
Neill is a level 2 coach, and one of the clubs most experienced coaches. He has raced at all distances, including Ironman and is a previous club champion.
